It is important that if you are making a transaction, whether it be for a contract to rent in Thailand or to buy property in Thailand, then you are aware of all the latest details involved in and transaction. Thonglor is thriving, exciting district in Bangkok. Very popular with Bangkok socialites young and old, and full of trendy and fashionable restaurants, cafes, bars and nightspots. With Real Estate at a premium in this area of Bangkok, there are some very high-end apartments and condos, but even in this district there are some bargains to be had.
Let’s start with apartments in Thonglor for the purposed of this Bangkok Property Blog article. Down towards the Petchburi Road area of Thong Lo there are some great deals to be found. One such apartment is the Domain in Thonglor. This apartment in Thonglor has been created by converting a group of Thong lo Townhouses into apartments full of character. A property conversion like this may be rare in Bangkok, but in the West we are very familiar with Townhouses, Detached Houses and other buildings receiving renovations to form apartments.

Often condos and apartments in large cities situated near the riverside often offer the residents premium living and come at premium price. In Bangkok, condos on the Chaophraya River offer residents views of the River if Kings.
In recent years there has been a surge to build big beautiful Chao phraya apartments and condos. With developers seemingly keen to outdo each other in the use of the land, the design of the Bangkok condominium buildings built on the edge of the Chaophraya have become some of the most extravagant and impressive in Bangkok.
One of the most extravagant Chao phraya condominium developments opened in recent years is The Chatrium:

With units in The Chatrium larger than most new modern Bangkok condos constructed in the last 5 years. The Chatrium is a Grade A condominium development with each and every unit getting clear unblocked views of the Chao Phraya river.

With a massive range of facilities The Chatrium can almost feel like a self contained town on the side of the Chao Phraya River. Facilities in this extravagant Bangkok condominium complex range from large swimming pools, gymnasiums and gardens, to tennis courts, shops and cafes.
With units on the large size, they are also more expensive to rent than many Sukhumvit and Sathorn condos, but actually work out about the same price or even cheaper per sqm. A large 65sqm 1 Bedroom condos in The Chatrium condominium will cost as much as THB 40 000/month to rent. So renting a Chao Phraya condo can come at a premium price. However with such a fantastic range of facilities, plus Chaophraya River views and Grade A finishing, the price will mainly seem justified.
On the opposite side of the Chao Phraya River is a condominium development by Major Development, who have built such well known Bangkok condos such as The Hampton, The Fullerton, The Manhattan Chidlom, and The Wind Sukhumvit 23.

The Watermark Chao Phraya is possibly the most extravagant Chao Phraya condominium development to date, with a list of facilities as long as any Bangkok condominium development. Some highlights feature tennis courts, volley ball courts, Infinity swimming pools, squash court, gymnasium, landscaped gardens, moon pool and waterfall.

Again with the Watermark containing such large units at Grade A standard, prices and rental prices are also at a premium. For example a 2 bedroom condos at this Chao Phraya development would rent at 55 000 Baht/month. But with clear river views, as many facilities as an Amusement Park and top class finishes all round it makes for luxurious living.
But perhaps you have not got THB 40 000++ to spend to rent a Bangkok condo, or to rent on the ChaoPhraya. There are then some less expensive alternatives that still offer the terrific Chao Phraya River views.

One such condo is Supalai River Place, a ChaoPhraya condo with units starting at just 12 500 Baht/month. Studios with 35sqm of living space can offer an inexpensive and practical way for someone who wants to enjoy the river views the Chao Phraya has to offer, but does not want to break the bank to do so.

Supalai River Place like The Chatrium and The Watermark is within easy access of a BTS station. This allows easy access to Bangkok’s CBD and even Siam Square can be reached in under 30 mins.
If you are living in The Watermark or Supalai River Place then Krungthonburi BTS station would be he easiest and fastest BTS station to get to. With less than a 5 minute drive from either The Watermark or Supalai River Place to Krung Thonburi BTS station.
If you live in The Chatrium the easiest and fastest way to got to the BTS is by Saphan Taksin BTS station or Surasak BTS station, depending on which way you travel to the station.

One other excellent riverside condominium development is the LPN Chao Phraya, or Lumpini Chao Phraya, this excellent Bangkok condo development is one of Lumpini Developments best buildings and Studio condos can be rented for 11 000 Baht/month with great views of the Chao Phraya River.

Again with a range of facilities including a swimming pool gymnasium and car parking this is a very comfortable condominium in which to live. Also this Bangkok condo building offers easy access Rama III expressway and is close to Central Rama III.
Finally Baan Sathorn a stylish glass coated Chao Phraya condominium, is opposite Saphan Taksin BTS station and again with a Grade A finish and facilities to match makes a great alternative to The Chatrium or The Watermark and Baan Sathorn has a convenient ferry to the Saphan Taksin BTS pier.

We have looked at some of the best new Ratchada condos and great value apartments in the Ratchadaphisek area of Bangkok. In this article we will take a further in depth look at this district of Bangkok and the condos and apartments on offer.
We will also venture into the Lat Phrao area of Bangkok. A busy main road and heavily populated district, Lat Prao seems to almost have as many spellings and pronunciations as people. Depending on whether you are on the MRT, Bangkok underground train service or looking at road signs in Bangkok or a map of Bangkok’s city center, you may see this district spelt in the following ways: Lat Prao, Lat Phrao, Lad Prao, Lad Phrao or even Ladprao/ Ladphrao! Yes a quite amazing amount of spellings for what amount to the same thing.

Anyway starting with condos in Ratchada, one hidden gem is found near Huay Kwang MRT station (another district of Bangkok with a sizeable number of spelling variations). Chateau in Town is a neat low-rise Bangkok condominium building, with the usual facilities expected to be found in Bangkok. Namely a swimming pool, gymnasium, security and car parking, I call the property neat because this condominium in Ratchada’s central areas has twin buildings, but both self contained.

With Bangkok Studio condos to rent starting at THB 12 000/month and One Bedroom condos at THB 17 000/ month this is a great value condo in Ratchada, only 5 minutes walk from Huay Kwang MRT station.
A bit further down the MRT track there are equally good Bangkok condos for rent. Lat Phrao MRT station is found on the MRT line has opened up the Ladprao area to international residents. Previoulsy before the Ladphrao MRT station opened very few expats wanted to live in the Lat Prao area of Bangkok.
The recently built condos in Lat Phrao a northerly area of Bangkok, are of course modern stylish, beautiful and given their location better value than those in more central Bangkok districts such as Sukhumvit, Sathorn and Silom. Lad Phrao is home to a number of stylish Studio, One Bedroom and Two Bedroom condos for rent in contemporary chic Bangkok condominium buildings.

Another building in Lad Phrao that offers a similar quality and style is The Pulse, but the difference is that The Pulse Lat Phrao offers a swimming pool as well. However you may want to rent a condo in Bangkok closer to the MRT. Of course you may have to pay bit extra for this. In Lat Phrao there are two such buildings offering the convenience of a 2-3 minute walk to Ladprao MRT station, the first that we will look at is The Ideo Lad Phrao a brand new state-of-the-art designed Bangkok condominium, with some highly attractive features such as the swimming pool. One bedroom condos for rent in Ideo Lad Prao are starting at THB 16 000/month. But with just a 150m walk to the MRT station in Lat Prao this offers real convenience.
